Familiars

Excerpt from the Atheria Chronicles: 342 A.N.

A new species from another reality has come through the Aetheon Portal with a returning Hero Party member seeking asylum in Atheria. They are humanoid creatures that are half-man and half-beast that resemble one of the Hero Party, which is strange in itself. The town children started to call their kind Beastfolk. In exchange for letting their people settle in Atheria, they have brought us a wonderous gift called Mystic Eggs.

Adventurers who have obtained a suitable Guild Rank may purchase these Mystic Eggs from the Guild and have their Beastmaster help hatch them if deemed worthy. They do not share the secrets of where the eggs come from or how they are hatched. Likely to ensure their survival and acceptance in Nexus. Disturbingly, there have been increasing incidents of discrimination and violence against Beastfolk.

An adventurer who is lucky enough to obtain a Mystic Egg and have it hatched has a new companion for life. These animals are not only loyal, but they aid the adventurer in utility and combat. A familiar can also share in the experience of the adventurer and level up its own power and ranks, becoming a very formidable companion.

Familiars have been ranked by their kind, power and rarity into the categories of Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic. Some of the most powerful familiars can also be mounted and fight along side the adventurer in combat.
